About Luke

Luke is a spiritual teacher and mindfulness coach who helps people around the world to heal, using his unique blend of Western psychology and Eastern spiritual wisdom. With an MSc in clinical psychology, and over 6 years working in counselling and therapy roles with both adults and children, he has developed a unique and confident approach to healing. Luke is currently taking on new clients and if you would like to work scroll down for more info

Luke's Story

For the majority of my life I experienced intense struggles with depression and anxiety. After many failed attempts of seeking treatment, at the age of 17 I decided to take it on myself to find the path to healing. I read every book I could find on healing and self-help, and eventually achieved an MSc in clinical psychology focused primarily on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. CBT was helpful for me, however I always felt something was missing. CBT helps someone to change their negative thoughts to positive, more rational thoughts. As our thoughts cause our feelings, by thinking better we can feel better. However, these negative thoughts can be very persistent, and quite difficult to change. I knew there was something missing.

One day, in the midst of intense suffering, I experienced a profound shift in my inner state. I was sitting in my garden, filled with intense depression, fear, and despair, and I had a strange thought... I knew that it was thought that caused most of our suffering, so I though to myself: "What would happen if I just stopped thinking?" A moment of silence came into my mind, and the most profound thing that could happen to someone happened to me. Years of depression and anxiety I had become so familiar with washed away from me in an instant. I physically felt the energy of pain and suffering in me leave. What was left was the most intense state of peace and stillness I had ever felt. I looked at the world around me in awe and amazement, as if I were looking for the first time in my life. The reason this peace arose was because I had transcended my thoughts.

By transcending thought, you can step back from the painful and fearful thought process in your mind, and realise yourself as the awareness observing them. As you this happens, you can move away from thought, and rest more peacefully in the present moment.
